Welcome to the Certified Organic Inc. (COI) website.  COI is a USDA accredited certifying agency.  We certify livestock, grains, foods, fibers, mushrooms, greenhouses, fertilizer operations, hydroponics, kitchens, processors, and  handling operations.  We offer certification across the United States, and are currently expanding our operations.

 COI offers simple, time saving, and reasonably priced organic certification.  The COI application, annual update form, and certification procedures are designed to meet the requirements of  the USDA National Organic Program as simply and efficiently as possible.  A key to the efficiency of the COI program is a self-rating form used by the applicant.  This form is also used by the independent inspector during the farm visit, and by the COI administrator to make a certification or annual update decision.  This allows all parties to use common evaluation criteria; all requirements are stated clearly, with no unexpected surprises.  We have a toll-free number for any questions or concerns.  While you are filling out your application, you will know  whether or not you are in compliance with the NOP standards based on your answers to questions on the application.  COI uses a rating scale to  evaluate each application  This allows some flexibility in the evaluation and suggestions may be offered to improve the applicant's chances for certification.

Notice:  All applicants and inspectors must download and fill out confidentiality and conflict of interest statements.  If you have attempted certification previously you must fill out a prior certification form. Inspectors must fill out the service agreement form.  See the Forms page to download these required forms.
